It's time to start off the 3rd Trimester... with a bang!

We had some fireworks last week a day before I started my 3rd and final trimester. I have been very lucky and have been feeling great. My body has still been letting me go on long walks and occasional jogs a few times a week. Last thursday I was going on my usual very slow 2.5 mile run when I tripped on a curb and took quite a header. I was very lucky to have been able to fall on my side and my left hand and leg took the brunt of the fall. However, I did call the Dr. since they said if you ever take a fall you need to let us know, not to mention I'm taking a blood thinner throughout the pregnancy. She immediately told me to go to Georgetown to be monitored.
Upon arrival they took such good care of me. We both were very nervous but I could feel baby Moore moving so I knew the little one was most likely just fine. Jessica was our nurse and she was so fantastic. She got me on the monitor and we could hear a perfect heart beat. According to the contraction monitor though, I was having a few contractions. This made me nervous but they assured me it was most likely just irritation from the fall and it would stop. Around now is when Dave started bringing attention to my swelling hand. They could tell that our little guy or gal looked great and they did a sonogram to see that my placenta was intact and amiotic fluid was OK. All looked good so they sent me to the ER for a short time to have my hand looked at.
Never have I had a broken bone... till now of course. Everyone knew I was going to have to be monitored at L&D for 4 more hrs so they were so great getting me through and getting my hand splinted quickly. Then it was back on the fetal monitor till about 3am. I had a few more contractions but no signs of active labor and baby moore continued to look fantastic. Dave managed to nod off a few times in his little reclining chair and kept me from stressing out too much. Finally, a little after 3am we got the O.K. to go home.
So, needless to say, I've decided to just stick to walking for the rest of this pregnancy. I doubt I would have made it much longer anyway. Hopefully my break should heal very quickly within a few weeks. More than enough time to have both hands for our little one's birth and after. The most important thing is that our little one is still just perfect :). I have a couple of pictures below from the past few weeks!

Our Baby's Eyes are Open!!!

So the time is truly flying by. We are almost 26 weeks pregnant which is when the baby reopens their eyes after they have been fused since almost week 8. Everything has been going wonderfully the past few months and I've even felt up to working some overtime at the hospital. This is a big change from the early months when I was far more sick and stressed.

There was lots of good new today as I passed my Glucose Tolerance Screening. I'm eating a big bowl of chocolate cookie dough ice cream as I type. As many of you know, I'm taking Lovenox, a blood thinner throughout my pregnancy and all the lab work to make sure that is going ok came back perfect too.

Now the preparation has truly begun before a very hectic and exciting summer. Dave spent 2 weekends ago putting our crib together and rearranging the furniture in our second bedroom. Then it was a trip to New Jersey for Devon and Greg's Bridal shower. A lot of family and friends got their first feel of Baby Moore moving around and kicking in my tummy. He or she is usually quite a lively little one and I've been so lucky that I have been able to feel he/she move since about 18 weeks. Now Dave and Belle the Cat are often frightened by sudden jolts in my tummy visible through my tee shirt!

So its time to enter my 7th month, wow is it going quickly. We are so excited for everyone to get to meet this little one soon. I'll be posting some more belly pictures soon. It is growing exponentially, that is for sure!
